I love this idea and it’s super easy to do.You can put it in your bedroom, your living room, your kids room (that’s where I put mine, above the crib of my little princess).

One thing I like about this yarn wall hanging is that you can customize it as you like! You can make braids, knots, you can put beads, tassels…Just have fun and be creative!

Here’s what you need

  • branch (that is what I used) or wooden dowel or embroidery hoop
  • yarn (I took 5 various kinds of yarn because I wanted it to be more textured)
  • scissors

So simple!Only three supplies and you get a very stunning yet easy DIY.

Now, let’s get started!

Take your yarn and measure how long you’d like your wall hanging to be.You should have a piece that is twice the length that you actually want.Remember, that if you are about to braid or make some knots you should cut your yarn longer. You can always trim it.So, it’s better to be longer than shorter.

Take one of your strings, fold it in half and put the loop above and under the branch as shown in the picture.

Then pull the strings through the loop.

And pull tight to secure it.

I wanted mine to be textured and full, that’s why I grabbed 4 to 6 strings of yarn each time and tied them to the branch.

If you have various kinds of yarn like mine, you can get any kinds of yarn you like and join them.

Now it’s time to have fun!Braid your yarn, knot your yarn, tie your yarn, put some tassels, beads, whatever you want.Just let your imagination free and be creative!

That’s it!Finished.I cut out mine in a diagonal shape.Another idea is that you can trim it off to a V shape or leave it uneven. It’s up to you. Now, all you have to do is hanging it on the wall.I used a nail and some twine. You can use this also or you can mount it on the wall with two nails.
